Watch the clip again – his face is worried. ![]() The fact is, in the land of Backstreet fans, it has never been completely impossible for us to have an unreleased song. We believe in it and want it to exist, but we may never hear more than that blissful one minute. “Spotlight” (IF that’s even it’s name) is a ghost. It is a Tickle-Me-Elmo and we are the doorbusting moms in the Holiday season of 1996 that can’t get our hands on it! The one song that we will never be able to hear because IT DOES NOT EXIST. They never finished the “Spotlight” song.Įver since then, it has become the Moby Dick (the whale that can not be caught) of Backstreet songs. Kevin, Howie, AJ, Brian and Nick seemed to hardly remember the song, but one of them did remember that they never finished the song. Then, once upon a time, someone was brave enough to ask what happened to the song. What is it about this song that we all now refer to as “Spotlight” that has us so hooked? If you search the song on YouTube, you will find the top video option is the minute of the documentary and has over 8500 views! Our spirits were dashed a little when there was no soundtrack released for the movie, but we had high hopes that maybe if we begged, they’d drop it somewhere in the future. It was ONE minute in a 2 hour documentary and we can’t let it go. ![]() Maybe it was Brian’s hand dancing while he sang along.īut we wanted this song that they all seemed to work so hard on.
